Hi Carol, just checking in once again. I love your collies. They are beautiful and you are such a good breeder. I still remember my classes with you with my Cubbie and Maggie. I have told so many people about you and your classes. It is an honor to know you! Maggie and Cubbie are good girls because of how you taught me to teach them. Thank you so much.

Dear Carol,

I wanted to write you a short note to let you know how worthwhile and successful your “Basic Beginner’s Dog Obedience” classes were for my Westie (Lily) and myself.

Lily never had any formal training before your classes this summer.  She is five years old and has always been good but somewhat stubborn regarding following commands.  Our goal with training was to eventually have her become a Therapy Dog.  Well, after many hours of practicing your techniques we made it to the screening stage for WAGS certification.  We participated in two hours of testing. Commands from me and from the screeners were observed and graded, exercises in dealing with distractions, contacts with others and with medical apparatus were also observed and graded.  It was pretty intense.  This testing occurred in individual and group sessions.

Needless to say, Lily passed with flying colors!  She has been accepted and will participate in an intense three day final training to become a certified “WAGS” therapy dog for Palos Park Hospital .

I cannot thank you enough for all the valuable knowledge you shared throughout your classes to enable us to become engaged in such a worthwhile endeavor.  We look forward to the impact of healing that therapy dogs bring to patients and I thank you for making this possible for Lily and me.

Sincerely yours,

Hi Carol~

How are you? For Muffin & I we are doing O.K. I just wanted you too know that I'm sooooooooo glad that I  put

Muffin in your class, because now we could walk with her, around the neighborhood & she does very well. She

doesn't act crazy any more. Every morning, Jim takes Muffin for a walk before he goes to work, and if I get a

chance I take her for a walk in the afternoon. When Muffin & I are walking, I talk to her, and when she looks up at me

I could cry, because I never had a dog to walk sooooooo nice like Muffin does now.

I have only one problem that is Muffin is a lover, and she always wants to give you paw. That sometimes it

gets me mad. I don't know how to break her of this. Even when my daughter comes over and sits on the floor, there

is Muffin giving her paw.  Sometimes my daughter gets mad when Muffin scratches her as she gives paw.

I try everyday to work with Muffin with all that we learned in your class, Muffin is doing very well with

everything.

So a BIG THANK YOU for all your help.

Hi Carol,

I just wanted to send you a little note to say thank you so much for all of you guidance the past few weeks.  I really appreciate the fact that you take time to correct me so that I can show Stanley how to behave like a little (ok, 70 pound) gentleman.  I'm sure it's hard to notice in class, but he really has learned a lot.  I think he finally knows his name after the exercises, which is something I can't say he knew before class started.  He definitely still has a way to go, but my husband and I are determined to work with him until he learns to respect what we say to him.

I'm really glad you said that I need to be more firm with him, because now I won't be hesitant to use a stern voice when a sweet one won't do the trick.  We are having some friends over this weekend, so we're going to work with him on listening when there are other people/distractions around since that's when we have the hardest time with him.  Like you said, we need to work with him until he is able to listen no matter where we are or who is around!

Also, we stopped by Maddie's house after training last night and worked with the two dogs for about 20 minutes before they could play.  It was the first time they didn't behave like wild animals with each other.  They have been better and better with each other after each class...but last night was by far the best.  We are going to work with them and the "come" command together this weekend.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  See you on the 10th!

Danielle (and Tim) Ryan
